Peet Bronkhorst Traditional Hunter Fixed Blade - Hardekool Wood Handle
A member of the Knifemakers' Guild of Southern Africa.
Peet is originally from Springs and currently employed as a Mechanical Specialist at Anglo Gold Ashanti. He is highly qualified in various other technician and management areas.
He keeps himself busy with other hobbies like fly fishing, traditional archery, cultivating palm trees and cycads, collecting old hand planes and Bonsai trees.
Peet is a part time knifemaker and became a member of the Knifemakers's Guild of Southern Africa in 1993. His workshop is very basic with a Rietveldt belt grinder, his wife, milling machine, lathe, heat treatment oven, temper oven, disc grinder, hand tools, a pedestal drill and lots of elbow power.
He enjoys making art fixed blade knives, sculptured from solid steel. He does his own heat treatment and treats the process at an independent NDT facility. He uses a vacuum process to stabilize handle materials.
His traditional knives of wood are from various countries but prefers our own indigenous wood. For embellishment he does file work and different surface textures.
Engraving and scrimshaw work is done by different artists but does his own leather work.
Peet has attained many awards for Fixed Blades at the Guild Shows.
