Willem Steenkamp Hunter w/Burlap Micarta Handle
A member of the Knifemakers' Guild Of Southern Africa since in 2008.
From a very young age Willem enjoyed working with his hands. Working with wood and steel, which he learnt from his father, always kept him busy in the garage. After building a knife making machine for a friend, Willem tried his hands at making a knife for himyself. The bug bit him and he was hooked.
Willem met Corrie Schoeman, who showed him the ropes and helped him get started at building his own machines, and now he has established a fully equipped work shop.
Willem sold his first knife in 2006 and was accepted as a guild member two years later. He is a Part-Time Knifemaker and enjoys spend all his free time in his workshop making fixed blade knives, sheaths and locking liners. He's goal is to always endevours to learn as much as he can from other knife-makers that have the same interests as him.
Willem uses whatever materials are available, mainly 12C27 and N690 for blades. Handle materials are usually African hard woods, Giraffe bone, horn and some synthetic materials.
Willem's says "My goal in knife-making is to improve my skills on every knife I make and to develop new knife designs."
