A Member of the Knifemaker's Guild of Southern Africa from 1983, also served on the Guild Executive Committee for many years, a Competition Judge and annual show organiser.

'I regarded myself as a 'hobbyist' full-time knifemaker, executing all work myself by hand, including heat treatments, making only 15 to 20 knives a year. Exhibited locally, winning numerous awards as well as internationally in Pariss, France and Italy. Garry retired from knifemaking as a hobby in 2012.' Last message to the knife community...'I am extremely grateful for the many good friendships made over the years and also wish to sincerely thank all the knife enthusiasts who's support I have enjoyed.'

Sadly Garry Lombard has passed away, an iconic, long-time member of the Knifemakers Guild, a humble, respected contributor to the knife community, renowned for his extremely talented custom gentleman's art folders and daggers. A superb creative craftsman, leaving a substantial influence on the local South African designers and knifemakers, esteemed internationally.
