A Member of the Knifemaker's Guild of Southern Africa and the youngest member ever excepted into the Knife Makers Guild in South Africa - a honour previously held by Kevin Harvey.

Rucus originally participated as an apprentice in the dynamic Heavin Forge Team: Heather & Kevin Harvey and Rucus Coetzee.

'At the beginning of 2013 I decided to start my own workshop and produce many different styles of knives and blades from hunting knives to kitchen knives. My passion is swords and other historically inspired blades and weapons.

Due to the origin and old techniques that are still present in modern day bladesmithing, it is only natural that I find inspiration from age old weaponry and cultures.

I also produce my own Damascus from time to time and prefer to do all my work on my own as far as possible.

I see my work as functional art. I love beautiful things and appreciate good craftsmanship and art, so I try to show it through my work as well.'
